I am a single female expat & have been in Bangalore since November 2009. Malaysian in origin, I started working for Shell in 2006 and begun my expat life in 2007. I was posted to Rouen, France (in Normandy) for 2 years and now to India. A chemist by background, I have been in asphalt/bitumen research & development for road applications since joining Shell, serving global customers. My job requires both lab work & some travelling to meet customers, training & participating to conferences. Though very technical, the experience of being abroad has really penetrated deep into me. I speak 4 languages i.e. English, Malay, Tamil and French. I love travelling! I have been to most countries in Europe, Scandinavia, UK, Kenya, US, Asia (India, SE Asia) and now looking forward to conquer South America, Canada, Australia and more of the African continent.
In my free time I read a lot and love being an occasional couch potato surfing TV or net. I enjoy cooking for close friends and family. I can be quite home-bound, seeking great comfort in my little paradise! Since coming to Bangalore, I have joined a salsa dance group and am very much at beginners level. Otherwise I love listening to music and some live music in a nice bar/pub is a great retreat from time to time!
I am not sure where I am headed after Bangalore but I would like to make my stay here as fun and enjoyable as possible with memorable (hopefully good ones) experiences!
