Wine tasting (Picture Gallery)

A wine tasting event was held on Sunday the 18th of January at Victor and Rienke’s residence in Koramangala. Victor explained a little about how you get to know a wine, by the colour, the thickness, the smell and the taste. He explained some basics about the temperature, the grapes and the combination with food.

We tasted:
1) The best at least in the writers opinion, Indian wine (Sula Sauvignon Blanc) with goat cheese.
2) A well-balanced, wooded Chardonnay from Australia purchased at Graze accompanied by toast with salmon, aioli and a caper.
3) An Austrian Gewürztraminer (thank you Ingo Bingo!) with imported foie gras, homemade fig compote and a walnut. This wine is one of the few wines that combine well with Curry!
4) Chile Pinot Noir purchased at Graze went really well with tender lamb cooked in the oven.
5) A wine from Tuscany ‘le Volte’ a combination of the Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grape. This rich red wine brought from Holland goes well with red meat, but is absolutely delicious with blue cheese and dates.
6) Danny brought the French Sauternes dessert wine from Holland. This sweet, yellowish wine was used to wash away the lovely cookie-cake prepared by one of our favourite Italian BEC-members Lorenza. Strawberries and cream were the icing on the cake!

Mahesh, wine lover and photographer took some amazing photos of our event. See his website at http://thecontrarian.in/ for more of his works of art.
