Kerala – Travancore Heritage Beach Resort. (Picture Gallery)

The BEC recently organized a 3-night trip to the beautiful Travancore Heritage Resort, just south of Trivandrum, Kerala. Seventeen intrepid BEC members set off from Bangalore and saw little outside the gates of the resort for the next 4 days. The toughest decisions made were whether to soak up the sun near the pool (and we had to choose between 2 pools, making it an even harder decision), or on the beach. We shared the beach with a couple of cows, some young boys who needed 'just 100 rupees' for a new football and some local fisherman hauling in their daily catch. Some adventurous souls discovered the wonders of a super oily ayurvedic massage, others the effect of the strong Indian sun, and yet others the local custom of serving vodka disguised in mineral water bottles. Some others jumped into the pool at 2 am in the pouring rain as a way to usher in a member's birthday. All of us returned to Bangalore refreshed, relaxed, some a little redder, and ready to plan our next expat adventure!
